I’m very pleased to present my brand new book released through Electric Eclectic Books
I’m a multi genre author, and only realised when I had finished writing this that it was much more than just a scary story. There is also romantic running through it with a fair measure of humour. It really was fun to write because I was challenged earlier in the year to write a romanc story featuring motor sport. I knew nothing about sport, so had to do a little research. Then the next step was to decide who would be my main character.
Cassie Newbold features in my short story collection called The Adventures of Cassidy Newbold. (Which is free to download, by the way.) She is a clairvoyant, and while the stories are humorous in places, they are also very dark as Cassie has some challenging encounters. So it seemed perfect to have a feature length story and introduce a hot World Champion Moto Sport biker into the story.
When a good looking guy walks into a café and asks for you by name, you sit up and take notice. Cassie is instantly attracted to Damien Mathers, who is also a World Super Bike Champion. He needs her help to banish a ghost. That is not what Cassie does but Damien is very persuasive!
The Ghost on the Stairs takes clairvoyant Cassie on a journey she won’t forget. It leaves her un-nerved and scared – not because of it, but of what it unleases within her.
Damien doesn’t believe in the paranormal, until he witnesses something he can’t explain. He is falling for Cassie but how can he love her dark side, too?
Can Cassie hold on to Damien? Can she banish the ghosts and save her relationship?”
“Karen J Mossman manages something quite unique. This is a story that will make you laugh and scare you at the same time.”
His eyes blazed, he rushed towards me with his hands outstretched. I felt a shiver rise up my back and goosebumps erupted. “Why?” I gasped as he went to grab me but couldn’t. He passed right through and it was like a block of ice filled me. I spun around to see him disappear into the darkness.
That was unnerving, and the shock left me frozen for a moment. If I hadn’t had experienced this before, I’d have been terrified.
Snapping out of it, I went over to the rail and peered down. Isabelle was on her way back up. Contorted and demented, she was worse than before, and nothing like the beautiful girl she once was. She had become a monster. Her head was twisted at an angle, her arms bent at the elbow, facing the wrong way. Her legs spindly and thin, her knees pointing in a different direction to her feet. She was the stuff of nightmares.
About the Author
You would assume Karen is a big horror and paranormal fan but that that is not the case. “I hate horror films, and haven’t watch anything to do with ghosts since The Exorcist. I wrote a story a while ago, and as often happens, I let the pen do the writing. It was supposed to be a story about a girl coping with her mother who had dementia, but it turned into something very differnt. That was called The Embers of Webster Street and is now part of The Magic of Stories Book.. Since then I wrote a story for an anthology, and Cassie Newbold was born, and I had a lot of fun creating new situations for her. So it seemed fitting to make The Ghost on the Stairs about her.”
